Alea Trio

*The "Alea trio", which consist of one Luxembourgish and two Czech musicians, came about in a somewhat unusual way, not as the result of a chance or even deliberate meeting of players wishing to work together, but because of a historical fact.

Luxembourg and Bohemia had close dynastic ties in the 14th century in particular, one of the most notable personalities for Luxembourgers, John the Blind, and one of the most notable for Czechs, Charles IV, being father and son. It was this fact which led Geoff Piper, of British nationality but long resident in Luxembourg and a keen student of Czech affairs as well as an impresario for Czech musicians, to bring the three together to create a second permanent Czech/Luxembourg ensemble (the Trio Bohemia Luxembourg, formed in 2006, constituting the first).

Alea Trio gave a benefit concert to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the foundation "Nadace rozvoje občanské společnosti" and the 10th anniversary of the project "Help the Children!", which was be held by Jan Nykrýn, MusicEnterprise and Nadace rozvoje občanské společnosti (NROS) on March 10, 2008 in the Martinu Hall of the Academy of Music Prague, Malostranské nám. 13, Praha 1. Program: L. van Beethoven, J. Suk and D. Shostakovich. Alea Trio than performed on a short tour in Luxembourgh and Netherland.
